When investigating an insurance claim, carriers often appoint an engineer to evaluate the cause of damages being claimed to determine if it is a covered loss. Often, these engineers work exclusively with the insurance companies. If these engineers wrote reports that disagreed with the insurance companies’ findings, the carriers would not continue to hire them.
