National Fire Prevention Week is the longest-running public health observation in America. It started in 1922, by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), to educate the community about fire prevention methods. Each year, firefighters provide fire safety education during National Fire Prevention Week in an effort to decrease fire related casualties.
This year Fire Prevention Week takes place from October 4 to October 10. The theme is “Serve Up Fire Safety in the Kitchen” and will focus on the number one cause of home fires: unattended cooking and cooking equipment.
Throughout the week, NCN will be sharing tips on our social media channels about how you can protect your family and home from a kitchen fire. For more information about Fire Prevention Week visit nfpa.org
