FAQs

What is a Public Adjuster?

A public adjuster is licensed and regulated in the state where you reside. Property owners hire a public adjuster to represent them and negotiate with the insurance company on their behalf. NCN public adjusters have expert knowledge when it comes to dealing with insurance carriers and the different policy types.

Why do I need a Public Adjuster?

An insurance policy requires the property owner to prove the loss on their claim. The majority of property owners do not know where to begin assessing the damages they have sustained. Often times, the owners are displaced from their home or dealing with business interruption, leaving them with many decisions to handle. This is where NCN steps in to assist. The insurance company only owes what you can prove. NCN will handle all the necessary details for compiling and negotiating the claim, as required by the terms of the policy. NCN will also meet with the insurance representatives to handle all negotiations, while keeping the property owner informed.

Why do I need a Public Adjuster when the insurance company has an adjuster?

The insurance company hires professionals to look at the claim from their perspective. This may not be in the property owner’s best interest. A public adjuster will work for the property owner and ensure that you are being fairly represented during the insurance claim process. Hire NCN to level the playing field.

Can my contractor negotiate my claim?

No. House bill 1183 states that it is illegal for a roofer or contractor to negotiate your insurance claim. Only a public adjuster or attorney can represent you in a claim. If a contractor offers to “settle your claim”, beware!

When should I retain a Public Adjuster?

You should do this immediately following a loss. Your insurance company representatives will try to steer your claim down a path that may not be advantageous to you. NCN offers a free evaluation of your claim. Know the facts before you proceed.

Is there a time limit to submit my claim?

Most insurance policies require a “prompt” reporting of a property claim. In addition, there are statutes of limitations that spell out detailed time periods that a property owner can report a claim. The longer a claim is left open unsettled, the smaller the chance is of a fair settlement. It’s essential to get started immediately so you don’t lose your opportunity for a settlement.

What is the fee for using a Public Adjuster?

No up-front money. NCN is paid contingently after monies have been distributed from the insurance company.

What type of property damage claims do you handle?

NCN handles all property damage claims to homes, businesses, schools, and churches. This includes hail, fire, wind, water, hurricanes, and tornadoes.

Will I get to choose my own contractor?

NCN is not a contractor. You select the contractor of your choice for your repairs.
